Rachel Katzmann To Light

My artist inspiration is Kendal Buster. Buster's sculptures use light material around wire which makes the sculpture feel light. They are abstract but many of the pieces represent landscapes. They are often lit up and the layers create a different amount of highlights and shadows throughout the piece.

Here are more images that I found on Pinterest with similar ideas. Sculptural relief flowers which I will use in the center of the sun. And other lamps that cast shadows.

My to Light idea is a sun lamp. It will be made of layered steel panels and cut-outs on the side, or maybe tinted Plexi glass and steel panels. From the front view, it will look like a half-sun with radial sun rays layered back and forth. The center of the sun will have a cast iron relief depicting flowers, I am not sure how I should go about making the flowers, can I cast real flowers? Or should I sculpt them from clay? From the side and top view, it will have alternating panels and cut-outs so that the light can shine through and create sun rays on the wall and ceiling, the shadows are the most important thing that I want from this sculpture. The light bulb will be in the center. It will sit on a table or nightstand and the dimensions will be 8x4x2 inches.
